It's my birthday! Here is my ask.

Hi neighbor,

Today is my birthday. I am spending it at work, which feels about right for this stage of a campaign.

Our campaign needs your help!

In 64 days this district picks a state representative. It is an open seat. The Minnesota House is tied 67 to 67, and 68 is a majority. The last time this seat was on the ballot it came down to 510 votes across 15 precincts. That is 34 votes a precinct.

A margin that size gets closed at the door, one conversation at a time. I do not need a present. I need doors knocked.

Take one shift with us

We are out every Wednesday evening and every Sunday afternoon from now through November 3.

You do not need any experience, and you will not be sent out alone. Your first time, you go with someone who has done it before. Bring water and shoes you can walk in. One hour is a real contribution.

• Wednesday, September 2, 5 to 6 pm. After-work door knock, every Wednesday through October.

• Sunday, September 6, 2 to 4 pm. The best one for a first timer.

• Sunday, September 13, 2 to 5 pm. Knocktoberfest, the biggest knock of the month.

If you can't knock, chip in instead

Plenty of people on this list cannot walk a route, and that is completely fine. Money does the same work a different way. It pays for the literature our volunteers carry and the mail that reaches the neighbors who are never home when we come by.

If you want to mark the day that way, give whatever is comfortable. Small donations from people who live in this district are what this campaign runs on.

And Minnesota will give it back. If you are eligible to vote in Minnesota, the state refunds political contributions up to $75 per person, or $150 for a married couple filing jointly. We signed the public subsidy agreement back in December, so a donation to this campaign qualifies. A receipt comes to you in the mail, you send it in with a one page form, and the state refunds the whole amount. Claims for 2026 gifts are due by April 15, 2027.
